It is not unusual for homewners who have household pets to have Urine stains on their carpet. Pets will urinate on carpet as an act of territorialism ,anxiety, or simply out of need.
 Mammalian urine is composed waste products of protein metabolism (uric acid,calcium oxalate,phosphates,and urates).making it a potential staining and soil attracting agent. The color of pet urine and its staining potential will often depend on dietary habits and the age of the pet. Foods high in protein tend to produce a darker more pungent and acidic urine. Typically, because cats diets are richer in protein than dogs diets,their urine will produce harsher odors and are more likely to cause stains. Acids found in pet urine can cause the backing in your carpeting to lose its bonding and start to separate from the fiber.
 Urine stains can be identified in several ways, the most obvious means being smell because pet urine is so concentrated, it will initially emanate a strong ammonia odor, which after a few days develops into a musty odor. Although old urine stains cannot be removed from the carpet unless they are cut out. But in most cases the urine odor and bacteria can be removed safely by using professional services. Pet urine odor on furniture is more involved. Not only are the fabric and foam cushions affected, but the bedding and framework as well. In most cases the foam will have to be replaced.
A final concern is pet vomit. Acids found in the stomach of pets will be present in any vomit material. The degree of acidity of these materials and their potential staining of carpet will be based on stomach content. Typically, stomach acids are very acidic which explains why vomit is much more likely to stain the carpeting.

- Blotting using a solution of one part non-sudsing ammonia to five p arts water,followed with blotting with a damp towel until the s pot is as dry as possible.
- place a weighted layer of color fast towels folded one-half inch thick over the spot and allow it to sit overnight to allow residual matter to wick up into the towel.
